DJ Cheese King Kut at UK Fresh 86 * PRETTY RARE AUDIO *

14 minutes. A clean stereo taping from Capital Radio. Mike Allen compèred the night (although the intro is studio recorded). I guess UK Fresh 86 was the Woodstock of Hip Hop, all the top recording artistes of the time were there in full effect at Wembley Arena on that July the 19th afternoon. Picture this - ear-drilling whistle noise, thousands of respectful hand guestures, VW badges and clocks on chains. Word of Mouth give us a brilliant live performance of King Kut which includes an uncensored 'mother-father' - possibly the only time Capital has broadcast that word. The set continues with Cheese slicing out a slightly more succinct and successful version of his winning DMC championship mix.

Chad Jackson DMC 1987 - Mantronix Mix May 1985 *PRETTY RARE AUDIO*

Just over ten minutes of gorgeous Mantronix beats, from May 1985. It's a Chad Jackson creation, who was proudly wearing his DMC crown while mixing this one. The Mixdoctor played it on pirate Solar Radio during their 93fm period. Loved Mantronix, they had a unique sound during a time when most other artists were biting styles. In fact they could justifiably be described as ahead of their time with the glitch-up madness. Tracks in the mix: Needle to the Groove, Ladies, Get Stupid Fresh, Hardcore Hip Hop, Fresh is the Word, Electronic Energy, Listen to the Bass, Scream, We Control the Dice, Big Band Big Boy, and Who is it? It's Mantronix, that's who.
